4 Fun ways to Exercise

Are you bored with your same old exercise routine? Doing an activity that’s both physical and fun, such as dancing or indoor rock climbing, is a super way to get in shape and stay motivated to exercise.

Whether you want to kick off a brand-new fitness regimen or add a little variety to your current routine, or simply take up a new hobby , you’ll have a blast while burning calories with these 4 fun activities.



If you like to dance, you’ll love Zumba. This aerobic workout blends choreographed footwork and body movements from a variety of dances including  salsa, merengue, flamenco and many more to help sculpt and tone your body and importantly burn fat. When you’re moving to the spicy Latin beats during a Zumba class you won’t even realize that you’re toning your abs, thighs, glutes and arms. Find a class near you or simply go on Youtube and try Zumba at home.


Indoor rock climbing

Indoor rock climbing is an anaerobic workout that builds strength and balance and can burn up to 800 calories an hour. Indoor climbing walls give climbers the opportunity to climb regardless of the weather.  One of the great benefits of rock climbing is that it works both your upper and lower body muscles. You will strengthen muscles in your back and arms when pulling yourself up, and you’ll be forced to engage the muscles of your core, quads, and calves to stabilize your body while climbing. It’s like doing yoga on a wall because you’re constantly shifting your weight so it builds muscles and strengthens your core.


At indoor climbing gyms, beginners usually start with 'bouldering' which consists of climbing shorter walls without a rope or harness and top roping which is climbing with an instructor or spotter using a harness or rope.




Speaking of Yoga, it is a great way to build flexibility, strength, and learn how to relax.  There are a billion kinds of yoga, so try a few different types and see which one lines up the best with what you’re looking for.

The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can reduce chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome, Yoga can also lower blood pressure and reduce insomnia.

Walking or Hiking

Take a friend, a family member, a dog, or even your exotic pet snake, and venture off to uncover the hidden treasures of your surroundings. If none of the previous are interested, grab your phone and earphones and bring some great music. Walking and hiking is such a brilliant way to exercise, and explore at your own leisure. I already always have my earphones in, but I love to grab my dog and take a stroll around my neighborhood. If you go with another person, you can catch up while working out, and get all those scenic candid photos for Instagram. Drive to a beautiful destination to add a splash of scenery to your workout.
