Make your own Coleslaw!


Simple and easy to make healthy coleslaw. Add it to a sandwich or salad or simply have as a snack!

A simple aul salad - a staple meal here in Ireland. Although mainly eaten during the summer months, we here in Revive HQ enjoy it all year round. It is so easy to make your own and can be added to almost any meal.

  • 1/2 a shredded white cabbage
  • 300g of shredded carrots
  • 1/2 a red onion - finely sliced
  • 1 clove of garlic - crushed
  • 2 tablespoon of creme fraiche
  • 2 tablespoon of thick low fat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard

 

Directions:

1. Combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. 

2. Add additional creme fraiche and natural yogurt to your own preference 

3. Season to taste with salt and pepper

4. Store in a fridge for 2-3 days

This recipe serves 6 people. It is low-cal, low-fat, low-salt and suitable for celiacs and vegetarians.

Waldorf Slaw Salad Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a shredded white cabbage
  • 1 thinly sliced fennel bulb
  • 2 celery stalks - chopped
  • 1 large apple - chopped or sliced to your own preference
  • 1/2 a red onion - finely sliced
  • 50g of toasted walnuts
  • 1/2  tablespoon of dill - chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon of chives - chopped
  • 2 tablespoon of creme fraiche
  • 2 tablespoon of thick low fat yogurt
  • Season with pepper

 

Asian Slaw Salad Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a shredded white cabbage
  • 1/2 yellow pepper - sliced
  • 1/2 red pepper - sliced
  • 300g of shredded carrot
  • 2 spring onions - thinly chopped
  • 30g of unsalted peanuts (optional)
  • Handful of fresh coriander leaves

To make the dressing you will need:

  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1 red chili - finely chopped
  • 1 glove of garlic - crushed
