29th September - World Heart Day!
What is World Heart Day?
World Heart Day on 29th of September every year is the World Heart Federation's biggest platform for raising awareness about Cardiovascular disease.
In May 2012, world leaders committed to reducing global mortality from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025. Cardiovascular disease (CVD), including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s number one killer and claiming 17.5 million lives each year.
Created by the World Heart Federation, World Heart Day is the perfect platform for the CVD community to unite in the fight against CVD and reduce the global disease burden. Their aim is to educate people that by controlling risk factors such as smoking, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, at least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided.
This World Heart Day, the aim is for everyone to understand what they can do to fuel their hearts and power their lives. Your heart is at the heart of your health. And it’s easy to give it the care it deserves.

Ways to Protect your Heart
According to the World Heart Federation there are many ways in which you can protect your heart, most of which are simple and easy to implement into your life.

2. Stop smoking and avoid second hand smoke.
